Catholic Marriage Prep and Theology of Body

The Catholic faith is a well-spring of knowledge.  It is chalked full of wonderful teachings, prayers, and devotions.  From birth, our parents are called to teach us the simplest of prayers and those prayers begin our beautiful relationship with Jesus himself. Most of us are baptized as infants, but before we receive Reconciliation and the Eucharist the hope is that our relationship with Jesus has turned into our own friendship…a beautiful, simple friendship. Catechesis and more Sacraments follow, all the while, growing that relationship with the Lord.

As one gets older, we begin to hear the word vocation! We hear the traditional definition that a vocation “is how God is calling you to serve Him in this world!”  We are told to start praying about our vocation and even though we may not know what that truly means hopefully we begin to see our lives have a bigger purpose than we ever thought possible.  For one truly to know what their vocation is, it is important to know who we are first.  Not necessarily the surface stuff of who we are, like, our hobbies, our favorites, etc., but who we are in the eyes of God.  John Paul II gave the church a wonderful gift in helping us discover the answer to this question by his beautiful teachings on Theology of the Body!  It’s never too early to use the teachings of theology of the body in your home, with your friends, or in your classroom.  It is truly the only way we can prepare for that age old question of, “What is God calling me to be?”

SO, WHAT IS THEOLOGY OF THE BODY and WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Theology of the Body is St. John Paul II’s reflections on the meaning of the human person!  It’s the moral teaching on love, sex, and marriage considering the body we possess.  These reflections took place in JPII’s Wednesday General Audiences for a period of five years.  (1979-1984) These words he shared with us have revolutionized the way that moral theologians looked at the questions regarding love, sexuality, and the marital embrace.  These reflections are based upon Scripture and church teaching and place these important moral questions into one, easy to understand, package.  These teachings share with us that we do not just have bodies, but instead are body persons, with souls, whose inner life is only expressed through the body gifted to us at birth.

CATHOLIC MARRIAGE PREP.COM (CMP) is based on St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body:  This beautiful teaching is integrated into ALL aspects of our program.  The couples that we work with learn to discover the importance and the dignity of each person as we are created, male and female.  They discover the incomparable value of their lives, learn the importance of forming our consciences, and uncover the beauty and complementary nature of their different missions as male and female.  We focus on the worth of their sexuality and the free, total, faithful gift of themselves that is meant to bear fruit in our world today.

We are excited to announce that we are a sponsor for the upcoming 2022 FREE online Theology of the Body Conference: “Revealed:  Become What You Are!”  This FREE conference will be held May 13-15, 2022.  The lineup of speakers includes the experts in the field of Theology of the Body; Fr. Mike Schmitz, Dr. Christopher West, Jeff Cavins, Matt Frad, Jason Evert, Jackie and Bobby Angel, Damon Owens, Bill Donaghy, Jen Settle, and Abbey Foard.  We hope that you will be among the tens of thousands of people from around the world who will join that weekend online and learn about the good news of St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body and how to apply its teachings to our world and culture and to help us answer the question, “What is God calling me to be?”.
