The Church Within Us

St.-John-Lateran

Sometimes I will be the only church that somebody will know!  You say, what?  Yes, that is true, I, and you, may be the only church that somebody will ever know.  As I read through the readings today on the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome, this thought began to develop within my heart.

A Marriage Made In Heaven

Giotto_-_Scrovegni_-_-24-_-_Marriage_at_Cana_excerpt

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that “God himself is the author of marriage.” (CCC #1603) This means that the very idea of marriage has its origin in heaven, within the mind and will of our Father. Therefore the principles and foundations of marriage extend beyond just the earthly bonds between man and woman.

maxresdefault

My husband and I had the chance to go see the new movie “Paul: Apostle of Christ” during Holy Week, which brings to life the account of the Acts of the Apostles. The problem is, men still can’t breastfeed or bear children, and women cannot insert sperm.

Wow!!!  Yes, that is the correct word to begin this blog post!  I think I am still in shock!  On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus our country just experienced the overturning of an almost 50-year-old law regarding abortion.  Roe vs. Wade was overturned!
