Learning to Forgive through the Sacrament of Reconciliation

Artgate_Fondazione_Cariplo_-_Molteni_Giuseppe_La_confessione

Growing up, I believed that going to confession was one of the scariest things that I could do. I was incredibly nervous because confession is uncomfortable. We have to dig deep, reflect, sit in silence and be sincerely sorry for the things we have done that hurt another. As humans, those things seem hard, scary and many of us would much rather avoid them.

Love Cannot Be Forced

michelangelo-71282_960_720

I had a very strange thought standing in my kitchen the other day. It was Lent, and I was hungry but I was fasting. In that moment when I wanted food, I said, “This is for love of you, Jesus.” Then all of a sudden this gratitude for free will washed over me. I still recall what that felt like because it was so unusual.

Have You Entered Into Marriage Freely?

marriage-447320_960_720

On your wedding day, you are asked, “Have you come here to enter into marriage without coercion, freely and wholeheartedly?” If you have, you can proceed to the exchange of consent, which is when the marriage actually takes place. This consent must be free, because as I wrote last week, no one can force you to love another person, just like God can’t force you to love him.

The "Church" of the Bouncy Castle

The "Church" of the Bouncy Castle

Last weekend two days after the "Brexit" result of the EU referendum we went along to our local parish school summer fair to participate and show support.
It’s a highly organised event with many parents and school staff working well together to provide lots of amusement and fundraising activities. The curious thing though was that no one (so far as I could ascertain) was in deep discussion or intense debate over the referendum...

Budgets, Baby Gates, and Boundaries

Budgets, Baby Gates, and Boundaries

When our youngest learned to crawl, once he got the hang of it- he just took off. I used to be able to sit him on the floor with a few toys around him and check in on him every few minutes while I got things done around the house. I clearly remember the day when I set him down, got something out of the fridge, turned around, and he was gone.

A Merry Christmas from USPS!

A Merry Christmas from USPS!

Today I braved our first blizzard to drive to my local Post Office. I had to ship some precious Christmas gifts to our family in France, daughters, grand kids, brothers and sisters...

Christmas is the time of the year when we do not look (too much) at the expense to share our love and our faith in Jesus, our greatest gift ever!

Wow!!!  Yes, that is the correct word to begin this blog post!  I think I am still in shock!  On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus our country just experienced the overturning of an almost 50-year-old law regarding abortion.  Roe vs. Wade was overturned!

My favorite part of the movie “Zootopia” is the sloths working at the DMV. I think it’s so funny because it’s relatable. DMV’s are notorious for being inefficient and taking up a lot of your time. It’s government work at it’s finest!
