Lessons in Love

Sacred_Heart_1770

Before I got married, I thought I was the perfect catch. I was confident in myself, loved adventure, was disciplined in my job,  went to daily Mass, and frequented the adoration chapel. I was intelligent and happy and was surrounded by good friends.

Matrimony Does Not Mean Legal Roommates

Seth-and-Savannah-K_20170616-210606_1

Often today if a man and woman want to get married, they first live together to see if they would be a good fit. To a lot of people, it makes sense to see if you are “compatible” before marriage, but really the opposite is true.

Marriage Advice from the Trenches

Marriage Advice from the Trenches

When I stood at the altar 7 years ago, I could have never imagined what would happen in the next 7 years: mother to 4, several job changes, a growing business, a move, and some emotional issues that I’ve had to work through. All I knew is that I loved my husband and we would be starting an adventure together.

This Marriage Prep is different, and here’s why

This Marriage Prep is different, and here’s why

In speaking to a group of priests on February 25th, Pope Francis urged that during marriage prep, couples must be helped to understand “the profound meaning of the step that they are about to take. . . In our mission statement at CatholicMarriagePrep.com we say: “Agape Catholic Marriage Preparation invites couples to a deeper relationship with each other and with Christ, one couple at a time.  Online, on-demand instruction rooted in Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, combined with personalized mentoring from a trained married couple, builds a foundation for a strong, healthy, Christ-centered marriage between a man and a woman.”  Who does that best serve?   From the very inception of CatholicMarriagePrep.com serving military couples has always been on our hearts, even offering a military discount.

Wow!!!  Yes, that is the correct word to begin this blog post!  I think I am still in shock!  On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus our country just experienced the overturning of an almost 50-year-old law regarding abortion.  Roe vs. Wade was overturned!

“And I tell you, ask and you will receive!”  This comes straight from the Gospel of Luke for today’s daily readings.  As I was reading the Gospel this morning, I was moved to write a reflection of the spiritual battle I have been facing for the past eight months.  I have not had the courage to share this with anybody, but my husband, who though very supportive, is going through this same battle.  I apologize if this blog is a bit depressing, but I do promise to end in hope!  The hope of a God who loves me (and you)!
