Praying While You Work

Praying While You Work

My 5-year old son was standing quietly watching me steam clean our floor one evening, which I just figured was amazing in itself since I do it so infrequently. But after a few minutes he said, “Hey mom, if you say a prayer and then steam comes out, then your prayer can rise to heaven on the steam.” I was floored (pun intended) that he would make such a connection between work and prayer. “Yes,” I replied,  “Steam cleaning the floor can become a prayer to God!”

Weddings, Sacraments, and Sacrifices

Last week we had a bunch of family come into town for my husband’s brother’s wedding. It was a busy week filled with morning outings and evening dinners all together (18 kids- most under the age of 10, 2 grandparents, and 13 parents). So by the wedding on Saturday, we were already tired!

In our mission statement at CatholicMarriagePrep.com we say: “Agape Catholic Marriage Preparation invites couples to a deeper relationship with each other and with Christ, one couple at a time.  Online, on-demand instruction rooted in Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, combined with personalized mentoring from a trained married couple, builds a foundation for a strong, healthy, Christ-centered marriage between a man and a woman.”  Who does that best serve?   From the very inception of CatholicMarriagePrep.com serving military couples has always been on our hearts, even offering a military discount.

Wow!!!  Yes, that is the correct word to begin this blog post!  I think I am still in shock!  On the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus our country just experienced the overturning of an almost 50-year-old law regarding abortion.  Roe vs. Wade was overturned!

Why Wait?  Is anybody as bad as a procrastinator as I am?  I find a reason to put off anything!!!  It is a blessing and a curse!  Of course, the blessing is that I have learned to work very well under pressure, the curse is that I have to work under pressure.  I have had plenty of conversations in my head that go something like this: “I should do, x, y, or z!  But if I do that now I can’t do this?  Oh no worries Tara, you can do that tomorrow!”  I live by the motto of, “Why do today, what I can do tomorrow!” Instead of the ever-famous Benjamin Franklin quote, “Don’t put off until tomorrow, what you can do today!”
