We make all sorts of assumptions every day. Some are trivial, others are potentially devastating. I think if we’re honest a great many of them are faulty. So why do we do this? I think that it’s part of human nature to base our understanding of other people and the world, not just on the facts we observe, but to a greater or lesser extent on what what’s going on inside us, psychologically.

June, as we know, is the month dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. When I read the headline the other day that married persons are 14% less likely to suffer a heart attack it got me thinking about how mind, heart and body stand more of a chance of being healthy and wholesome from a physiological perspective, if we see the needs of all three from the spiritual perspective first.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve long had a hang-up with perfectionism. And for a long time, I really struggled with Mary. It just didn’t seem fair to me that Jesus made his own mother perfect, but left the rest of us to struggle. Why couldn’t he have made the rest of us perfect, too?
