In Bosnia, Ukraine and other eastern European countries, instead of just holding their right hands during the vows, spouses hold a cross together, symbolizing that the cross and death to self is the path to holiness and happiness in marriage.

Brad Pitt once said about marriage, "I'll tell you what I despise: this two-become-one thing where you lose your individuality"! He didn't get it! (he should take our classes!) Two become one, but you stay who you are, each with your own special gifts to give each other. It is not a fusion of spouses but a communion of persons, in the image of the three persons of the  Holy Trinity.
